Austria : Postdoctoral research position in the Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems

Based in the Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems, Vienna University of Technology, Austria, you will work on the EU funded project MobiGuide (http://www.mobiguide-project.eu/) concerning the development of an intelligent system to provide patients with chronic illnesses with adequate advice anytime and everywhere. You will carry out research involving the development of tools (conceptual, mathematical and computational) for extracting information from clinical practice guidelines.

You will work closely with other group and project members to develop novel methods within the domain of information extraction and machine learning. You will design, analyse, implement, test and evaluate new algorithms and integrate them in existing infrastructure.

You will be highly motivated and have a PhD or equivalent research experience in computer science or related areas, together with knowledge of NLP, Information Extraction and especially statistical machine learning methods, and medical terminology systems.

Ideally, you will also have a track record in applying theoretical results to develop real world systems and experience in medical informatics together with software engineering skill and programming experience in Java.

Contract: Fixed Term Contract (one year)
Salary: EUR 47,345 - EUR 52,092 (before taxes)
